DOCTOR EN MEDICINA Y PROFESOR ASOCIADO DE MEDICINA EN LA UAM. ES DIPLOMADO EN HIGIENE Y MEDICINA TROPICAL (DTM&H) POR LA LONDON SCHOOL OF HYGIENE AND TROPICAL MEDICINE Y MASTER IN SCIENCE (MSC) POR LA UNIVERSITY OF LONDON EN BIOLOGÍA MOLECULAR APLICADA AL DIAGNÓSTICO DE LAS ENFERMEDADES INFECCIOSAS.
Experiencia
HA TRABAJADO COMO CLÍNICO EN PAÍSES DE AFRICA (SIERRA LEONA, ETIOPÍA). DESDE SU INCORPORACIÓN AL SERVICIO DE MEDICINA INTERNA DE LA FJD EN 1994 HA DESARROLLADO UNA IMPORTANTE LABOR COMO INFECTÓLOGO Y PARASITÓLOGO CLÍNICO. ANUALMENTE ORGANIZA Y DIRIGE UN CURSO DE MEDICINA TROPICAL QUE INCLUYE DESPLAZAMIENTO DEL PROFESORADO Y ALUMNOS A ETIOPIA.
Certificaciones
En 2005 ha obtenido el Certificado Internacional de Conocimiento en Medicina del Viajero
Vicepresidente de la Comisión de Docencia de la FJD-UTE y vocal de las Comisiones de Investigación y Control de Enfermedades Infecciosas.
Investigación
Sus áreas de investigación clínica incluyen la infección por el VIH, las infecciones por protozoos y las infecciones endovasculares. Ha participado como investigador principal o co-investigador en más de 50 ensayos clínicos.
Publicaciones
Es autor de más de 70 artículos en revistas nacionales y extranjeras y ha presentado más de 100 comunicaciones a congresos de Enfermedades Infecciosas.
