Contributions to society

Our group is developing the use of minimally invasive ultrasound-guided synovial biopsy for the study, in collaboration with the Pathology Department of our institution, of diagnostic, prognostic and treatment-response biomarkers in patients with chronic arthritis, including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis and related conditions. This represents an important healthcare innovation that provides new tools for improving patient management and outcomes

• We are investigating the use of specialised pro-resolving lipid mediators in the treatment of microcrystalline arthritis. This new therapeutic approach aims to activate the body's natural mechanisms for resolving inflammation, rather than relying exclusively on conventional anti-inflammatory drugs.
• We seek to advance precision medicine for patients with autoimmune diseases, with the goal of selecting the most appropriate treatment for each individual patient. Through this strategy, we aim to improve healthcare efficiency, reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with these complex diseases, and generate added value for both patients and society.
