Summary of activities

The group’s clinical and research activities focus on the study of diseases with an immunological basis, primarily allergic and cardiovascular disorders, as well as on the identification of diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers through omics-based approaches, particularly in the cardiorenal field. In both acute inflammatory conditions, such as anaphylaxis, and chronic inflammatory diseases, including asthma and vascular wall remodelling, the group investigates the immunopathogenic mechanisms and signalling pathways underlying disease development and progression. In parallel, efforts are directed towards the development of innovative tools aimed at improving disease diagnosis, prognosis and treatment.

Contributions to society

Over the last decade, the group has contributed to society with the publication of more than 600 original articles and review papers in high-impact scientific journals, the development of 20 clinical guidelines and management protocols, and the filing of two patents. The group maintains strong engagement with society through close collaboration with patient associations and by carrying out dissemination and outreach activities in school settings. In addition, members of the group have carried out educational videos and actively participated in media outreach initiatives, sharing their expertise and contributing to public awareness and improved understanding of these diseases.

Collaborations

The group is an active member of several Spanish and European scientific societies in the fields of Allergy, Immunology, Cardiovascular and Kidney disease, and is represented on the Executive Committee of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI). At the national level, the Group participates in CIBERES and RICORS2040 and maintains numerous collaborative links with leading researchers through both intra and extramural networks and initiatives, including CIBERES, ARADyAL, REI, GEIVEX, PROTEORED and SESMET.

At the international level, the group has established numerous long-standing collaborations with leading research teams and institutions worldwide. In addition, all group leaders serve on the editorial boards of prestigious international journals and actively contribute as editors to leading publications in their respective fields.
