Urological Tumor Unit
The Urological Tumor Unit at the Fundación Jiménez Díaz Hospital is aimed at providing specialized and coordinated care for patients with cancers of the genitourinary system, such as prostate, bladder, kidney, testicular and penile tumors. Its work relies on close collaboration between different specialists, including urologists, medical and radiation oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, geneticists, nuclear physicians and nursing professionals, thus ensuring comprehensive assessment and consensual therapeutic decisions.
Accurate and early diagnosis is a priority for the unit, which incorporates advanced technologies such as multiparametric resonance imaging, fusion biopsy, PSMA PET and molecular analysis. These tools allow a more detailed characterization of each case and the establishment of individualized management strategies according to the risk, stage and biological profile of the tumor.
In the therapeutic field, the unit is committed to the personalization of treatments, integrating minimally invasive surgery, precision radiotherapy, systemic therapy (chemotherapy, hormone therapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapies) and active follow-up. Clinical decisions are based on updated international guidelines and the growing use of genomic information and biomarkers that guide towards more effective and safer treatment.
The unit also has a clear research vocation. It actively participates in clinical trials and multicenter projects, which allows it to offer innovative therapies to patients and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in urological oncology. This approach combines excellence in care, access to innovation and a firm commitment to continuous improvement in patient outcomes and quality of life.
