Research:
- Head of the Urology Service research group, which is associated with the Renal, Metabolic and Cardiovascular Diseases Area of the IIS-FJD (Instituto de Investigaciones Sanitarias Fundación Jiménez Díaz). Principal investigator and collaborator in numerous multicentre trials, sponsored by academic institutions and pharmaceutical companies, on prostate and bladder cancer, chronic urological pain and urinary incontinence. Promoter of research projects in various areas of the specialty that address issues such as pharmacological treatments, cell therapies, surgical procedures, digital health and improving the quality of care.
Teaching:
- Associate Professor of Health Sciences since 2005, teaching urology as part of the Medicine degree at the Teaching Unit of the Hospital Universitario Fundación Jiménez Díaz Faculty of Medicine, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Aneca hired Doctor in 2008. Since 2021, membership of the Doctorate Programme in Medicine and Surgery at the UAM. Collaborating lecturer in other centres such as the Universidad Europea de Madrid (UEM), ICOMEM (College of Physicians of Madrid), Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC), Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) and Univeridad de Extremadura (UEX).
Director of nine doctoral theses, research work, pre-doctoral tutor and member of multiple doctoral thesis tribunals at various public and private universities in Spain. Since 2011, Director of the annual course TxThiel: Renal Transplant: Technique and Fundamentals. Renal transplant: technique and fundaments Kidney procurement surgery, bench surgery and renal transplantation in human cadavers preserved with W. Thiel’s embalming technique and simulators.
Author and co-author of more than 180 publications in scientific journals (national and international), book chapters and communications in scientific events. https:// orcid.org/0000-0002-5881-6614. Member of the editorial team of 3 impact journals and reviewer of 5 (national and international). Dr. Peña Award (1994) from the Royal National Academy of Medicine. Winner of the E. Pérez Castro Award for Best Reviewer of the Year 2013 and December 2019.
Active participation in national and international scientific congresses. From 1986 to date, more than 600 scientific communications (oral communications, posters, videos and thematic panels) mainly focused on the field of urology and innovation in health. Lecturer, speaker and/or moderator of Round Tables at scientific events in the speciality of Urology and other related disciplines. In the field of clinical management and team leadership, she has led the Corporate Urology Team at the QuirónSalud Madrid Group of public hospitals to be recognised as the Best Urology Service for Patient Care for ten consecutive years (2011–2020) (BIC, Best in Class Awards).Award in the TOP20 Awards for the Best Service in the Kidney and Urinary Tract Area (IASIST) (2012, 2018 and 2023).
Member of the Spanish Urology Association (AEU) and responsible for the Clinical Management Office and Patient Area since 2017. Member of the Madrid Urological Society (SUM) having been a member of the Board of Directors (2010–2013) and of the European Association of Urology (EAU), the Ibero-American Society of NeuroUrology and UroGynaecology (SINUG), the International Continence Society (ICS) and the Latin American Pelvic Floor Association (ALAPP). Elected candidate for the Presidency of the Board of Directors of the AEU (Asoc Esp de Urología) from 2025 to 2029. Distinguished as one of the 50 Best Spanish Doctors (Vanitatis, 2021). Recognised in the Forbes 100 Best Doctors in Spain List (2022 and 2023).
