- Collaboration in the ADMIRE-CD study: A phase III study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of expanded allogeneic adipose-derived stem cells (eASCs) for the treatment of perianal fistulizing Crohn's disease. Published in the Lancet, 2016, and long-term results in Diseases of the Colon and Rectum, 2022.
- Participation in the TAUTEM multicenter prospective randomized study on the treatment of superficial T2-T3 rectal adenocarcinomas (N0 M0) with neoadjuvant RT-CT and subsequent transanal resection vs. surgery with total mesorectal excision (2015-2021). Published in Annals of Oncology, 2023, and JAMA Surgery, 2025.
- Participation in the HIPECT4 phase III multicenter randomized clinical trial on the influence of HIPEC in locally advanced colorectal cancer (cT4NxM0) in the absence of carcinomatosis to evaluate the adjuvant effect of hyperthermic chemotherapy with mitomycin C combined with surgery versus surgery alone (2017-2021). Published in JAMA Surgery, 2023.
- GECOP-MMC protocol: National multicenter randomized phase IV trial to evaluate the efficacy of HIPEC with mitomycin-C after complete surgical cytoreduction in patients with peritoneal metastases from colon cancer. Initiated in 2022, pending completion and publication of results.
