The Anaesthesiology, Resuscitation and Pain Treatment Department is part of the Surgical Area at Hospital Universitario Fundación Jiménez Díaz. Our service is distinguished by its innovative approach and strong commitment to research, as well as the compassionate nature of its professionals and dedication to providing excellent healthcare.

The main goals of the service are to:

  • Guarantee the performance of therapeutic and/or diagnostic surgical procedures, whether urgent or scheduled, as well as other techniques that require the collaboration of the anaesthesiologist, always with a focus on patient comfort and procedural efficiency.
  • Closely monitor the evolution of all patients in the post-anaesthesia recovery room in their different degrees of complexity.
  • Provide adequate treatment for acute and chronic pain.
  • Offer patients quality care and safety, with the maximum involvement of our healthcare professionals.

Our care work is carried out in different areas within the hospital, most notably:

  • Surgical Procedures (Main Surgical Block)
  • Preoperative evaluation and optimisation consultations
  • Scheduled surgery with hospital admission: any surgery required due to its complexity or the need for post-operative care.
  • Emergency surgery
  • Outpatient surgery (without hospital admission) and short-stay surgery
  • Minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
  • Obstetric anaesthesia (analgesia and anaesthesia for labour and/or surgery)
  • Short stay post-anaesthesia recovery unit (PACU)
  • Post-surgical intensive care unit (major complexity/ICU)
  • Chronic pain treatment, consultations and operating room procedures.

The Anaesthesia Service is made up of specialists exclusively covering all areas where our work is required, along with 16 medical residents.
