Infectious Diseases Unit In charge of diagnosis, treatment and follow-up for patients with any kind of Infectious Disease. Its activity covers both the hospitalisation area, with its own assigned beds, and Interconsultations of other medical and surgical specialities and outpatient care: Consultation for Travellers, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, HIV, etc.

Lipids Unit. Dedicated mainly to diagnosing and treating complex hyperlipidaemia, especially familial hypercholesterolaemia, and monitoring patients with cardiovascular risk factors.

Osteoporosis and Bone Metabolism Consultation. The practice, found in Argüelles Specialities Centre, attends to patients with alterations in calcium, vitamin D, phosphorus or alkaline phosphatase parameters of unclear cause, primary hyperparathyroidism, patients with first fragility fracture over 50 years old, primary osteoporosis and secondary to other diseases (malabsorption, early menopause, HIV, etc.), hereditary osteopathies such as osteogenesis imperfecta or X-linked hypophosphoremic rickets.

Heart failure consultation, coordinated with the Cardiology Service. Follows up outpatients with heart failure, always striving to improve quality of life, and avoid readmissions and complications. It plays an active role in the Heart Failure Working Group and in implementing treatment and follow-up protocols.

Systemic Autoimmune Diseases Consultation: coordinated with Rheumatology, Nephrology, Pneumology, Ophthalmology and Dermatology. Responsible for caring for patients who present a wide range of symptoms involving multiple organs and systems, requiring a holistic, comprehensive approach to their care.

Thromboembolic Disease Consultation. This practice treats patients with Venous Thromboembolic Disease (pulmonary thromboembolism, deep vein thrombosis and venous thrombosis in unusual places) after diagnosis, establishing the anticoagulant treatment and its duration. Patients are comprehensively assessed to ensure early detection of any concomitant diseases, ordering tests and thrombophilia studies when indicated.
