Volunteering has existed since ancient times. It is as old as poverty, disease, marginalisation, loneliness, or any other type of human misery. But throughout history, altruistic individuals have provided selfless assistance to those facing difficult challenges: volunteers.

From knowledge of the situation faced by many patients arriving and staying at Fundación Jiménez Díaz, came the need to set up a small group of altruistic individuals who empathise with those going through such situations, alleviating some of their needs through their support and acts of kindness. That is why Fundación Jiménez Díaz aims to improve its services by providing a team of volunteers to help you.

Volunteers are people who have freely, selflessly and unstintingly set aside part of their time to helping the sick. Volunteers are not part of hospital staff, and are not paid for their work.

Action Areas

Fundación Jiménez Díaz volunteers can help in the following cases:

  • Accompanying the sick person and his/her relatives.

Structure and Operation

Volunteers at Fundación Jiménez Díaz are a key part of the services provided by the Centre. Their support helps ensure a more comprehensive, complete care service.

The effectiveness of voluntary support depends on the active involvement of the beneficiaries, achieved by standing alongside them rather than taking their place.

The Coordinator is responsible for continuity of services, ensuring full coverage while defining the criteria in accordance with those in place at Fundación Jiménez Díaz.

  • New Volunteers:

New applicants are required to have an interview with the Coordinator and discuss their availability, experience, skills, and any other relevant information. They will also be informed about the different services volunteers can offer. The coordinator will check if the person has the relevant profile.

  • Selection:

The Coordinator will select the most suitable tasks based on each candidate’s profile.

  • Training:

The training must be tailored to effectively serve the groups it is intended for. The group should be properly onboarded.

  • Teamwork:

It is important to work collaboratively as a team. Be attentive to the ideas of others, accept majority decisions, and comply with all agreements.
