Techniques:
Since its foundation, Fundación Jiménez Díaz's Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology Department has played a crucial role in innovation in Spanish orthopaedic surgery. Surgical techniques such as Moore partial hip prosthesis, scoliosis correction with Harrington stems, vertebroplasty and arthroscopic stabilisation of the shoulder with Latarjet technique were all performed in this service for the first time in Spain.
Current surgical techniques include, most notably:
- Minimally invasive bone and joint surgery.
- Advanced joint arthroscopy (shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, ankle): meniscal injuries and meniscus suture, arthroscopic reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament, shoulder instability and rotator cuff tear, cartilage injuries, epicondylitis, arthroscopic release for joint stiffness, arthroscopic reconstruction of intra-articular fractures, etc.
- Treatment of traumatic and degenerative cartilage injuries. Cell therapy, growth factors.
- Percutaneous forefoot surgery.
- Complex reconstructive joint surgery: Shoulder, elbow, wrist, finger, hip, knee and ankle prostheses. Arthrodesis. Arthroplasty. Osteotomy.
- Correction of congenital and developmental anomalies: foot, clubfoot, scoliosis, polydactyly, etc.
- Microdiscectomy and neurosurgical release of the spinal canal, posterior and anterior surgery, deformity correction, vertebral fracture repair.
- Tumour resection.
- Correction of deformities secondary to fractures.
- Regenerative surgery and biological therapies.
- Sports medicine and sports injuries.
