Adopting the methodology of modern radiology departments, Fundación Jiménez Díaz Hospital’s radiodiagnosis service is organised by organs and systems, with the following sections:

NEURORADIOLOGY

The Neuroradiology Section at Fundación Jiménez Díaz specialises in diagnostic imaging of neurological disorders such as epilepsy, brain tumours, multiple sclerosis and problems of the ear-nose-throat system. It also performs evaluation of diseases of the entire spine.

ABDOMINAL RADIOLOGY

Members of this section work closely with specialists in gastroenterology, colorectal surgery, transplant and general surgery, urology and haematology/oncology to accurately diagnose diseases involving the liver, pancreas, kidneys, gallbladder, colon and adrenal glands, and to plan treatments tailored to patients' needs.

THORACIC RADIOLOGY

The physicians in the Thoracic Radiology Section are leading experts in diseases such as lung cancer, emphysema, asthma, infectious diseases such as HIV and tuberculosis, lymphoma and occupational lung diseases such as asbestos exposure.

MUSCULOSKELETAL RADIOLOGY

The Musculoskeletal Radiology Section works closely with Traumatology, Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and other departments to provide accurate diagnoses and treatment plans for patients with disorders of the spine and upper and lower extremities, arthritis, and soft tissue and bone cancers.

PAEDIATRIC RADIOLOGY

The Paediatric Radiology Department works closely with the Paediatrics Department and paediatric sub-specialists to provide timely, accurate, effective diagnosis and treatment.

BREAST RADIOLOGY

Fundación Jiménez Díaz’s Breast Radiology Section offers high-quality breast cancer screening and a wide range of diagnostic and interventional services to accurately diagnose and plan treatment for breast cancer and other breast conditions.

CARDIOVASCULAR RADIOLOGY

The Cardiovascular Imaging Section has a team of radiologists and cardiologists specifically trained in cardiac imaging, who maintain close working relationships with Cardiovascular Surgery, Vascular Surgery and Cardiology. It is one of the few centres in the country equipped with dual-energy CT equipment for heart imaging in a single heartbeat.

Our healthcare professionals are experts in diagnosing and developing treatment plans for a wide range of conditions, including adult acquired heart disease, as well as specific ailments such as exercise-induced chest pain, valvular regurgitation, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and abnormalities in heart size and shape.

INTERVENTIONAL VASCULAR RADIOLOGY

Interventional radiologists use an extensive range of diagnostic procedures and cutting-edge image-guided techniques to provide advanced therapies for vascular, gastrointestinal and genitourinary conditions. The section works in state-of-the-art laboratories, treating conditions by, for example, removing uterine fibroids and clots, managing infection or fluid collection, and inserting central catheters.

INTERVENTIONAL NEURORADIOLOGY

The mission of neuro-interventional radiologists is to provide the best minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of conditions involving the brain, head, neck, spine and spinal cord region.

Our endovascular and interventional specialists use state-of-the-art image-guided techniques to deliver therapeutic agents through a percutaneous route (i.e. without the need for open surgery). This means that hospital stays and recovery times will be shorter, in addition to other benefits of endovascular surgical neuroradiology, including sophisticated treatments for arterial brain disease.
